Yes, there is no charge for us to attend to give you advice and a quote on the work you require.

Do I need permission to cut a tree in my garden?

If your tree is subject to a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) or you are within a conservation area then permission is required from the local council. If you are unsure we can check for you and deal with the application. If the property is rented then you would need permission from the landlord.

What is a tree preservation order (TPO) or Conservation area?

A tree preservation order is made by the local planning authority which makes it an offence to cut down, reduce, crown thin, uproot, wilfully damage or wilfully destroy a tree without permission from the planning authority. Tree preservation orders are used to protect trees that contribute to the appearance (amenity value) of an area. They are made if a tree is under threat of being cut down or damaged.

How do I pay?

Payment is required once the work has been completed and can be paid via cheque or bank transfer. Full payment is preferred to be paid on the day but if this is not possible or you are not in then within 14 days and will leave full details with you before we leave site.

How will you leave may garden?

We will leave your garden as tidy as possible with little evidence of us being there. Everything we cut down we will take away from your garden unless it is requested that we leave wood etc behind. Your lawn may have some brushed areas where we have drag large branches. Obviously, if the garden is very wet there may be areas of mud.

Can I request to have to wood for logging? How will you leave? Will you stack it?

We will happily leave you the wood for logging. We will endeavour to cut the logs into in small chunks for you to handle, they will be stacked near to where the tree was dismantled. If you would like to us to log and stack them this can also be arranged but may be at an additional cost depending on the amount and size of the tree.

What happens to the left over waste/ chippings/ logs?

All waste taken away from a job is properly recycled. The woodchip is used in local parks for paths or allotments to be used as fertilizer or mulch. Logs are taken away and stockpiled for burning in the winter.

Do I need to be at home whilst you work?

As long as we can gain access to garden via a side gate or driveway then you do not need to be home. On completion of the job we will leave behind or email / post out an invoice for payment.

Do you work in all weathers? If it’s raining will you still turn up?

We work in all weathers usually, unless the weather will compromise the safety of staff or anyone in the area. On occasions when it is extremely windy, or raining heavily and it is not possible for us to carry out the work safely then we will notify you as soon as possible and will arrange another suitable date with you.

Can you send me an estimate based on a photograph?

No, we do not quote from photographs. Our quote consists on many factors which include access to the area, any hazards within the area; utility wires, outbuildings, greenhouses, ponds, close vicinity of neighboring property’s or where access may be required to multiple property. Sometimes if a tree overhangs a busy road or traffic control is needed this will all impact on the quote. All of these factors have an influence over the time the job will take and the cost. This is why it is important for us to conduct a site visit to access the tree and site and will give you the most accurate quote. Our quotes are free and can be completed during the week or weekends during the day and in the evening in summer months where it does not get dark until later in the evening.
